History

DirectNET, Inc., founded in 1995, quickly became known as the leading source for Independent KVM Server Management Solutions. Few at that time knew what a Keyboard Video Mouse (KVM) switch was, let alone the value of software-independent remote access server management or the value of datacenter space optimization.

In the early days, most KVM switches were sold by furniture salespeople whose knowledge was limited to how much margin they could sell them for. In contrast, maintaining the highest level of expertise has always been our top priority. Our expertise isn't limited to the technology alone, we work closely with our customers to truly understand their server and datacenter environments and determine how the technology we offer will best optimize remote management and reduce unnecessary datacenter clutter. Initially, our vendor independence was frowned upon by several of our vendors who were used to resellers and VARs offering their products exclusively. However, providing the best solutions to meet our customers' needs required that we maintained our vendor independence. Although a few of our vendors have superior products lines and are leaders in developing new technologies, even they have to admit that their technology is not the best suited for every customer’s application—in some cases a competitor’s product is a better fit. We carefully evaluate all the technology available and our customers' requirements to ensure the solution they choose will best meet both their current needs and goals for future growth.

Leadership

Alan Mamane is the president and founder of DirectNET. Alan began his career as a Systems Engineer for Nixdorf Computer in Europe, taught Novell Netware networking, and has over 20-years of experience in the computer networking industry, including having held senior management positions at Siemens and Glasgal Communications.
